Real Madrid Wins Champions League As Bale Scores Double

Gareth Bale overhead kick put Real 2-1 up against Liverpool

Gareth Bale's incredible bicycle kick and keeper Loris Karius' two unfortunate mistakes helped Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in Champions League final at Kiev.

The Reds started with high pressing game creating chances and moving into opponents box more often. But first half's main highlight was when Mohammad Salah collided with Sergio Ramos and had to leave the game with injured shoulder and in tears at half hour.

His absence reversed the flow of game with Real taking more control of the ball. Minutes later Real defender Dani Carvajal also twisted his ankle and had to be replaced. Before the half time Ronaldo’s close-range header was saved by keeper Karius and put into the net by Benzema, who was flagged offside.

At 51 minutes Karius had an absolute shockers when he tried to throw the ball towards his teammate only to hit Karim Benzema's foot, who was right in front of him, and go back into the goal.

Minutes later Liverpool equalised when Dejan Lovren headed the corner into the six-yard box where quick Sadio Mane poke it past Keylor Nevas.

Gareth Bale came off the bench at an hour into the match and scored stunning overhead kick past Karius and into the net, making it arguably the best Champions League final goal ever.

Liverpool kept trying for equaliser until Karius made another mistake slipping Bale's strike from 30 yards into the net.

"It has to be the best goal I’ve ever scored," said Bale about his first goal.

"It is disappointing, of course. We did well to get the goal and get back into the game but made mistakes and Real Madrid were really good," said Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

This was Real Madrid and manager Zinedine Zidane's record third consecutive Champions League title victory.
