CRICKET: AUSTRALIAN BALL TAMPERING TRIO SENT HOME

Cricket Australia has called back Australia captain Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner and batsman Cameron Bancroft from South Africa tour after being caught for ball-tampering.

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland says 'significant' sanctions will follow but let off coach Darren Lehmann as not involved in the controversy.

Sutherland told a news conference: "On behalf of Cricket Australia, I want to apologise to all Australians that these events have taken place, especially to all kids who love cricket and idolise the players."

Bancroft was caught red handed on camera tampering the ball in the 3rd Test against South Africa in Cape Town. Coach Lehmann, after realizing his player has been caught send in some instructions to the player after which Bancroft was again caught hiding the yellow material used for tampering in his pants.

When questioned by umpire the player instead of the material showed handkerchief and the umpire let them continue but all the Australian players tricks were caught on camera.

Captain Michael Clarke was quick to accept the cheating in press conference and apologized while revealing the "leadership group" of the team was involved in the pre planned cheating.

“I’m not proud of what’s happened. It’s not within the spirit of the game,” Smith said.

“My integrity, the team’s integrity, the leadership group’s integrity has come into question and rightly so.”

The scandal has hit the pride sporting nation hard and Australian Prime Minister has called for the board to act decisively.

"This cheating is a disgrace, we all know that, it is a terrible disgrace," Mr Turnbull said. "Cricket Australia is dealing with it, they have to investigate it and they have to continue to act decisively and emphatically.
