Pep Guardiola: Post Derby Celebration Was 'Normal'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that his team's celebration after the 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday did not cross the line.

The two sides reportedly got involved in clashes after the match with City's assistant coach Mikel Arteta suffering a head injury.

City's players celebrated in front of their fans after the final whistle and coaching staff tried to persuade manager Pep Guardiola to join them, but he refused.

The players headed to dressing room and celebrated but Mourinho responded to what he perceived to be over the top celebrations.

The row then took place outside the visitors' dressing room.

"We won a derby, what do people expect - we don't celebrate?" he said at a press conference before City's game against Swansea on Wednesday night.

"No, we celebrate, when Arsenal beat United, they celebrate... We try to do it in the locker room.

"It was correct. We jumped because we were happy. Of course, in that moment, we want to celebrate."

"We were inside, it is normal," he said. "We didn't do anything exceptional, we did what we did in the past and what we will do in the future.

"The image can speak for itself. What happened after the game. Normal celebration."

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho had water and milk thrown at him by the fans after the defeat.
