Stanford University Tops Institutions In Producing Most 'Unicorn Companies' Founders

Most of the founders of billion dollar companies, dubbed unicorn companies, have had their highest education from Stanford, US, 51, according to a new study. Harvard and University of California follow the list with 37 and 18 respectively.

The research conducted by the software company Sage showed that 9 of the top 15 most popular universities amongst unicorn founders are from US.

Interestingly, 94% of those founders are male while 67% of unicorns were created by just a single founder.

For 60% of founders, their current unicorn is the first and only company they've built.

USA possessed most number of these companies, a whopping 144 unicorns. China followed with 47, India with 10 and UK with 9.
