Zambia Students Plan Protests

University of Zambia students are organising protests to force government meet their educational needs.

The students say that protests are the only way the government takes their matters serious.

Earlier UNZA saw protests against accommodation shortage and Youth and Sport minister Chishimba Kambwili who angered the students on his remarks over the running of the Commonwealth Youth Centre.

"The only language government understands is violence when students begin to protest. Students are very peaceful people who are only interested in furthering their studies but the government was failing to meet their needs. There is absolutely no need to protest when everything is perfectly fine around here. The students are often infuriated by greedy politicians in government who are spending national resources on wrong priorities using allocations meant for the university," said student Derrick Mondoka.
