Taylor's Gift To NYC

TAYLOR SWIFT will donate all proceeds of her latest single to New York City's schools, the singer confirmed yesterday. The song, Welcome to New York, is taken from Swift's new album, 1989, which was released earlier this week - and is widely predicted to become 2014's first platinum record.

"The song Welcome to New York - I don't think I've told anybody this before - but the fans were wonderful enough to make it number one on iTunes and it is selling really, really well, which is good because I'm donating all of my proceeds to New York City public schools," Swift told the hosts of The View chat show.



Swift was earlier this month named New York's "global welcome ambassador" by the city's tourism board, which lauded the "synergy" between the singer and the city. As part of her role, Swift has recorded videos explaining New York vernacular such as "bodega" and "stoop". Watch the clip below.
