LAPINA, the Latvian-born model who has fronted dozens of
campaigns from YSL to H&M, has counter-sued her former agency,
claiming that it owes her $1 million in unpaid fees.
Lapina was sued by Women - the New York-based agency that
represented her early in her career, but which she left last month
- following her departure to join rival agency DNA. The agency
asserted that it had, "invested substantial time, money and
resources in Lapina's nascent career, providing countless hours of
professional services to Lapina and parlaying its industry
contracts to introduce Lapina to top fashion designers,
advertising clients and other industry professionals." It also
described Lapina as a "unique and irreplaceable talent", alleging
that her agency move represented a breach of contract.
