Students stage massive protest rally in Kolkata

Kolkata, Sept 20: More than ten thousand students from from various colleges in the city staged a protest demanding the resignation of Jadavpur university vice-chancellor Abhijit Chakrabartito

Support for JU came from other cities as rallies were held in cities like Delhi and Mumbai.

The resignation demand came after the vice-chancellor called in police on Tuesday to disperse the protesters.

The students are also seeking a fresh inquiry into the sexual harassment of a student in the campus last month.
