Students hit by 58-day long IMC strike

The cease-work strike launched by the employees of Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) demanding 6th pay revision has completed 58 days.

The strike has greatly affected cleaning of garbage in Imphal City capital of the Indian state of Manipur. and other areas under Imphal Municipal Council.

Due to the strike, the issue of birth certificate and other documents by IMC has been stopped.

As a result, the students who are seeking new admission in different schools across the State face problems trying to obtain the birth certificates.

Some of them have paid off extra bucks in order to obtain the certificates from the backdoors.

The birth certificates are reportedly sold for Rs.300 each by some people taking due advantage of the strike.

Many people have drawn the attention of the authorities concerned to bring a solution to end the strike and address the problems faced by the common people at the earliest.
