The Longest Trip Home by John Grogan

Finding your place in the world can be the longest trip home...

In his bestseller, Marley & Me, John Grogan perfectly described one family's love for their wondrously neurotic dog. He made us laugh and cry, and showed how unconditional love can come in many forms. Now, in The Longest Trip Home, John writes with the same honesty, openness and humour about the relationship between a son and his parents.

As a 'bad boy' in a good family, John didn't always live up to his parent's expectations, but as a man he came to understand the love they gave him every day of his life. In The Longest Trip Home John describes his painful, funny and poignant journey into adulthood. A fateful call from his father would lead him on the next leg of his journey - the trip back home.

At its heart, this is a universal story about growing up, and making peace with your parents before it's too late. As warm and moving as Marley & Me, The Longest Trip Home is a tribute to the power of family and love.

San Antonio transforms Into 'City Of Yellow Roses'

Already one of the world’s most romantic destinations, San Antonio is going all out for this year’s Valentine’s Week by transforming into the “City of Yellow Roses.” Roses mean romance, but in San Antonio it’s only natural that the color of romance be yellow, not red.

Visitors can experience the City of Yellow Roses February 10-19 in many ways:

Three River Walk barges will charm visitors with floating serenades. Acoustic guitar, marimba and mariachi musicians will entertain with live music the weekends of February 10 and 17, as well as Valentine’s Day, February 14.

In addition to the serenade barges, 10 other barges will be decked out in yellow roses, ribbons and more, to add even more color and romance to the River Walk during Valentine’s Week.

Jerry Maguire (1996)

Jerry Maguire is a 1996 romantic comedy-drama film starring Tom Cruise, Cuba Gooding, Jr and Renée Zellweger. It was written, co-produced, and directed by Cameron Crowe. The film released in North American theaters on December 13, 1996, distributed by Gracie Films and TriStar Pictures.

The film received mostly positive reviews and, on a $50 million budget, was a financial success, bringing in more than $270 million worldwide.

Jerry Maguire is a glossy 35-year-old sports agent working for Sports Management International (SMI). After suffering a nervous breakdown as a result of stress and a guilty conscience, he writes a mission statement about perceived dishonesty in the sports management business and how he believes that it should be operated. He distributes copies of it, entitled "The Things We Think and Do Not Say: The Future of Our Business". His co-workers are touched by his honesty and greet him with applause, but the management sends Bob Sugar, Maguire's protégé, to fire him. Jerry and Sugar call all of Jerry's clients to try to convince them not to hire the services of the other. Jerry speaks to Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Rod Tidwell , one of his clients who is disgruntled with his contract. Rod tests Jerry's resolve through a very long telephone conversation, which culminates in the famed "Show Me the Money!" scene. Meanwhile, Sugar secures most of Jerry's previous clients. Frank "Cush" Cushman, a superstar football prospect from Southern Methodist University expected to be #1 in the NFL Draft, also stays with Jerry after he makes a visit to the Cushman home. Leaving the office, Jerry announces he will start his own agency and asks if anyone is willing to join him, to which only 26-year-old single mother Dorothy Boyd agrees. The two had previously bumped into each other in the airport and Boyd had told Maguire personally how inspiring she found his "memo". Jerry travels to the NFL Draft with Cush and convinces Rod to come too, to meet representatives of other NFL teams. Though Rod at first feels neglected compared to the superstar Cush, Sugar contacts Matt Cushman, Cush's dad, while Jerry is in the lobby with Rod and re-signs Cush to SMI.

Steve Madden ‘bringing fashion to the people'

Steve Madden has announced plans to offer some insight into New York Fashion Week via social media for a second year running.

WWD reports January 26 that the US footwear mogul is teaming up with Paper Magazine's Mickey Boardman for an initiative called "Crashin' Fashion Week."

Launching February 1, the duo will provide runway reviews, behind-the-scenes news and party reports through social media and Taxi TV.

"Social media is about democracy, and I'm all about bringing fashion to the people," Madden explained.

"We've found the perfect vehicles in Facebook, Twitter and mobile... it works for us in a big way."

Daniel Radcliffe Admits Being Drunk During 'Harry Potter' Scenes

Daniel Radcliffe admitted he was drunk while filming some scenes for the "Harry Potter" movies during a period in his life where he was drinking "nightly," the young star said in an interview.

"I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem. People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don't want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily - I mean nightly," Radcliffe said to British celebrity news magazine Heat earlier this week.

"I can honestly say I never drank at work on 'Harry Potter.' I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I'm just gone. Dead behind the eyes," the 22-year-old actor said.

The young British star, who was propelled to fame at 11-years-old after being cast to play boy wizard Harry Potter in the movies based on J.K. Rowling's best-selling novels, discussed his "very busy personality" and also talked about his production-assistant girlfriend, who he said was "a wonderful, wonderful girl, who's far too good for me."

"I can also be quite insecure. A lot of actors have self-doubt. I live under that the whole time, and it's how I function best. I think she puts up with a lot; she says she doesn't," said Radcliffe.

City beats Fulham, Arsenal gets encouraging win

Robin van Persie celebrates his hat-trick

Manchester City once again raised the bar for the champions Manchester United after a 3-0 victory over Fulham.
Sergio Agüero scored the opener 10 minutes after the start converting a penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty was conceded by Chris Baird after a foul on Adam Johnson.
City doubled the lead after a own goal by Chris Baird when Adam Johnson tried to fire back across goal but it took a massive deflection off the hapless Chris Baird and give Schwarzer no chance in the Fulham goal.
Edin Dzeko scored the third goal with left footed shot from the centre of the box to the centre of the goal. The assist came from Sergio Agüero who weaved his way through the Fulham defence before laying it on a plate for Dzeko who finished past Schwarzer from 10 yards.
Arsenal record their biggest league win at the Emirates stadium after beating Blackburn Rovers 7-1 as the Gunners ended their r-matches winless streak in the league.
Robin van Persie overtook Denis Bergkamp in the scoring list with a hat-trick, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his first two Premier League goals for the club and Thierry Henry, in the last minute of his final appearance at the Emirates, said goodbye with Arsenal’s seventh. “That is really something special,” said Wenger.
Arsenal took just 82 seconds to get the opener when Radoslav Petrovic's poor clearance was picked by the Arsenal right-back. He worked the ball to Walcott who had plenty of time to pick out Van Persie for the simple finish.
Despite Arsenal dominating the early exchanges, Blackburn managed to equalise after 31 minutes, when Morten Gamst Pedersen hit an excellent free kick that went in the top corner.
Seven minutes later Arsenal went into the lead. Alex Song threaded a precise pass between Martin Olsson and Gael Givet for Walcott to sprint onto and the England winger again picked out Van Persie in space for the tap in.
Walcott was again heavily involved in the third goal. He cut inside and found Van Persie, whose fast-stepping footwork made him deliver a fine pass into the path of Chamberlain, who went coolly round Paul Robinson to finish.
After the break, the goals started flowing again. After 51 minutes Steven N’Zonzi could only head Van Persie’s corner to the edge of the box where Koscielny’s touch cushioned the ball for Mikel Arteta to score.
Three minutes later it was five. Walcott cut through some fairly insipid Blackburn defending on the right and laid the ball off for Chamberlain, who trapped and hit a low shot confidently past Robinson.
Van Persie then completed his hat-trick with another close range finish, this time after Coquelin had walked past Junior Hoilett on the right.
He was also selfless in helping Henry have a perfect Emirates send off. The veteran caught Grant Hanley on the ball and then checked with Van Persie running off him. The Dutchman could have taken it on and shot but instead found Henry whose shot deflected in off Scott Dann.

Younis' ton puts Pakistan in control after England Debacle

Younis Khan scored the first century of this series
Younis Khan (115) and Azhar Ali (75) revived Pakistan hopes of first whitewash in a Test series putting Pakistan in a lead of 180 with 2 wickets down, by the close
Spinner Abdur Rehaman's five wicket haul helped Pakistan end England innings early in the day at 141 runs before England dismissed the openers on 28 runs.
When Younis came to the crease shortly before lunch 22 wickets had fallen for 268 runs and batsmen on both sides were in mental turmoil over a record number of lbw decisions in a three-Test series but not another wicket fell all day.
The third-wicket stand between Younis Khan and Azhar Ali was worth 194 in 72 overs and Younis' century, the first of the series, is his 20th in Tests and second against England. Only Inzamam-ul-Haq, Yousuf and Javed Miandad are above Younis on the list of Pakistan batsmen with the most Test centuries.
Azhar Ali's half-century is his 14th in 21 Tests and his third against England. He has now scored 1429 runs at an average of 42.02.
