Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish annoyed over Carling Cup schedule

Kenny Dalglish
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish said that the scheduling of Carling Cup quarter-final is "irresponsible".
Liverpool will play against Chelsea in the quarter-final match on Tuesday. Liverpool has just played against Manchester City on Sunday and beaten Chelsea a week ago.
"Forty-eight hours is a bit irresponsible for the people who've organised the dates of the matches," he said.
''To ask any team or any players to play two games of high intensity in 48 hours is a bit of a joke."

The Linearity of Logic

Linear Thinking is defined as,

a process of thought following known cycles or step-by-step progression where a response to a step must be elicited before another step is taken.

If a = b, and b = c, then a = c. The application of linear thinking can be found in the well known Socratic Method:
a form of inquiry and debate between individuals with opposing viewpoints based on asking and answering questions to stimulate rational thinking and to illuminate ideas

I am a very linear thinker, so I write beginning to end. I write hundreds of pages per book that never make it into print.

Body Language Of Empathy Is Genetically Wired Say Scientists

Scientists have researched over the roles our genes play in determining our social behaviour. From this very informative article on MNT I learnt that there's a hormone produced by our hypohlamuses (brain) called  oxytoxin. As reported, "It (oxytoxin) has targets or receptors all over the body and also within the brain and plays a key role in female reproduction. It has also been linked to trust, love, bonding, reducing the impact of negative responses, and social recognition".

Scientists fom University of  University of California studied this hormone's effect on different people and found out that those having the GG cpmbination of oxytoxin receptor (amongst the AG AA or GG) were" most able to interpret others' emotions and showed the most empathic ability, while those with AA and AG combinations were less able to put themselves in the shoes of others and also were more likely to become stressed under pressure"

Researchers from University of Toronto at Mississauga in Canada carried out a very interesting experiment. They filmed 23 romantic couples. One amongst the couple had to express his feelings while the other one was being observed by researchers as a "listener". They observed his body language, facial expreesions etc and then compared the results with their blood tests (exposing AA oxytoxin receptors).

Kogan, Saturn (the lead researcher) and colleagues found that listeners carrying GG versions of the oxytoxin receptor gene were rated as more prosocial than those carrying AG or AA versions.

"People can't see genes, so there has to be something going on that is signaling these genetic differences to the strangers," Kogan told the press. "What we found is that the people who had two copies of the G version displayed more trustworthy behaviors - more head nods, more eye contact, more smiling, more open body posture. And it was these behaviors that signaled kindness to the strangers."

Planet's Population Needs More Food!

The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization has completed its first ever global assessment of planet's state.
According to report, farmers will have to produce 70 percent more food by 2050 to meet the needs of the world's expected 9 billion population. Which means they need to produce 1 billion tons more wheat, rice and other cereals and 200 million more tons of beef and other livestock, else poverty and hunger situations would be unbearable.

Nestle commits to end child labour

"Child labour has no place in our supply chain." -- Senior Nestle executive Jose Lopez.
Nestle, in collaboration with Fair Labour Association (FLA), has set out to eliminate child labour on cocoa farms supplying its factories.

The firm signed a commitment to end child labour 10 years ago along with other international chocolate producers. In its statement it said that since the "cocoa supply chain is long and complex", food companies find it hard  "to establish exactly where their cocoa comes from and under what conditions it was harvested".

The FLA would examine Nestle's supply chains in Ivory Coast in January in order to determine where most of the cocoa comes from. The findings of the assessment will be published next year.

Liverpool draw with Manchester City, Mancini blamed Liverpool for Balotelli's send off

Balotelli argues with Mancini after the red card
The quest for the premier league title becomes more exciting as Manchester City draw with Liverpool to maintain their lead of 5 points over the champions Manchester United.
Captain Vincent Kompany headed at David Silva's corner to score the opening goal for Manchester City in 30 minutes. Just two minutes later Liverpool equalised when defender Joleon Lescott wrongfooted Joe Hart on Adam's shot from 25 yards.
Mario Balotelli was sent off on 82 minutes for putting his forearm into Skrtel's face as they contested for a high ball.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini said that Liverpool's players tried to 'provoke' a red card from Balotelli.
"Mario has to pay attention because there are many players who will try to provoke him," he said.
“My impression is the referee gave a free kick and didn’t want to give the yellow card, but he did after all the Liverpool players went there.”
A door was reported to be broken by the striker in the City dressing room after he was sent off. "If he damaged the door, he will pay for it, just like his house," Mancini said.

How Many Healthy Fellows Do We Have On The Planet???

In 2001, chronic diseases contributed approximately 59% of the 56.5 million total reported deaths in the world and 46%of the global burden of disease. And 80% of them are from developing countries.
This is how world is suffering at large scale. Thanks to Bill and Malinda who dedicated their lived for others health. New and weird diseases are getting discovered. Some take years to get solved.

Going back to 1340s, The Black Death, or The Black Plague, was one of the most deadly pandemics in human history. The total number of deaths worldwide from the pandemic is estimated at 75 million people; there were an estimated 20 million deaths in Europe alone. The Black Death is estimated to have killed between a third and two-thirds of Europe's population. Maybe an infected rat travelled from Asia thru Amazon forest and entered European port.

The point is, this planet is one no matter what boundaries we set. And the only way to fight it is to eradicate the threatening diseases from the globe. because it is all we all have ! :-)

Evidence for the Existence of a Hypnotic State

A recent study made by a group of researchers from  Finland (University of Turku and Aalto University) and Sweden (University of Skövde) reveal the importance of 'glazed eyes' in a hypnotic state. They claim to have found the first evidence of the existence of a conscious state in humans. The study suggests that the glazed eyes are not just a mental imagery that takes place during normal wakening state but it has infact, much deeper meanings in terms of psychology and cognitive neuroscience.

"The researchers used high-resolution eye-tracking methodology and presented a set of well-established oculomotor tasks that trigger automatic eye behavior. They found the glazed stare was accompanied by objectively measurable changes in automatic, reflexive eye behavior that could not be imitated by non-hypnotized participants." , reports Science Daily. The person studied was a highly hypnotizable one, who  would just get hypnotized and dehypnotized by a single word cue.

Uptil this research, a hypnotic state had never been scientifically proven and researchers had considered it just a psychology myth.
